	The Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services have launched a campaign aimed at preventing one million heart attacks and strokes over the next five years. The “Million Hearts” campaign encourages people to lose weight, stop smoking, control blood pressure, reduce cholesterol and manage diabetes.
As part of this new initiative, Quality Improvement Organizations (QIOs), including eQHealth Solutions, will work with providers to create Learning & Action Networks focused on achieving the elements of the “ABCS” – Aspirin for people at risk, Blood pressure control, Cholesterol management and Smoking cessation. The “ABCS” address the major risk factors for cardiovascular disease and can help prevent myocardial infarction and stroke. Visit the Million Hearts website for more information on the program.
CardioSmart is the patient education and support program launched by the American College of Cardiology. Their mission is to engage, inform, and empower patients to better prepare them for participation in their own care. Visit the CardioSmart website
